End of Year Time Capsules!

I can’t believe the school year is coming to a close! It’s amazing how far the little humans have come in nine short months. It is so fun to watch them grow and learn throughout the year. As the school year winds down, the kids and I have been working on their kindergarten time capsules! The idea of the time capsule is that I put some of their drawings, art work, writing samples, and interview pages from the entire year in a large manila envelope. I seal it with a sticker saying “Sealed in 2018, Open in 2030” (the year they will graduate high school). During the kids’ end of year conferences, I gave the sealed envelopes to parents, many of whom cried upon receiving this. I love that this project touches both the students and their parents.

The time capsule project includes a self portrait paper, an all about me interview, height measurement tags, hand and footprint papers, a special memories note from teacher to students, predictions for what life will be like when they graduate high school, a letter where students can write to themselves for when they graduate high school, and fun memories papers for parents. They turned out so cute!!

Their self portraits cracked me up!

This little friend had by far the most HILARIOUS responses for his 12 year predictions. I was crying from laughing! Thank you, little friend 🙂

This little human is going to be a world changer, and I truly hope his sweet letter reminds him of his heart for others in 12 years. He wrote, “Dear —, I want to be a teacher and teach kids math and teach them the right thing and I want to remember my teacher and remember my friends. Love, —” HOW PRECIOUS.

You can hop on over to my TPT store and grab this Time Capsule unit. There are pages for kindergarten, first, and second grades. Enjoy!
