I love adding in thematic literacy centers to the center rotation! When students are learning to read, it is so important to introduce engaging literacy centers. February literacy centers help students build phonics, literacy, and reading skills in an engaging and fun way!
Silent E Write the Room
This first game is a Silent E write the room. When students learn the phonics skill of silent e, they often struggle to remember the long sound that silent e makes. This game helps students to build their phonics skills by spelling silent e words. Students find the silent e words around the classroom, and write the words on the cards.
February Writing Center
I created a thematic February writing center to enhance my February literacy centers. It is important for young learners to build vocabulary and use key vocabulary across content areas. The vocabulary cards make this easy, especially when they are writing stories. The students February story starters, and they get creative!
February Sensory Bin
My kids LOVE sensory bin activities! This February sensory bin game tests sight word knowledge. Students select a sight word from the sensory bin, and record on the recording sheet. All of the sensory bin fillers are from the Dollar Store! I used rose petals, Valentine confetti, beads, and fake flowers.

This next February phonics game challenges students to identify the correct beginning blend. I have my students clip the correct blend using clothespins. After they finish the game, the students record their learning on a recording sheet.
CVC Write the Room

After students can identify letters and letter sounds, orally segment CVC words, and blend the onset and rime of a word, the next important skill is blending CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words. This engaging February literacy center gets the kids up and moving! The students find the CVC pictures hidden around the classroom. They sound out the CVC words, and write the words on the recording sheet.
These are 5 of the 10 February Literacy Centers included in this pack. I hope you have gained ideas for your literacy centers for February!
Cheers!
